Now that I have to actually spend money to read more than 3 screeds a month on Medium (I won’t! See Medium’s Bait and Switch) it is doubly frustrating to use one up on a lengthy fabrication based on a misinterpretation of Physics.

Medium has provided something we really didn’t need: a mechanism for people who don’t know what they are talking about to nevertheless say it to everyone in beautifully typeset format with nice pictures. Given the liberally demonstrated gullibility of humans, this mechanism is efficiently decreasing the sum of human understanding faster than any previous tool.

There doesn’t seem to be any compensatory mechanism on the larger Internet analogous to peer review for scientific journals, so all I can do is plead with everyone not to write stuff that you aren’t absolutely sure is true, even if it’s, like, really cool!
